One More Puma to the Top 14

Lucas Mensa will play in the Top 14. The Argentine center recently signed for Oyonnax from Mont de Marsan. The move was, at the time, from one Pro D2 team to another. This is no longer the case as Oyonnax won promotion to the Top 14.

Oyonnax will replace Brive in the Top 14 next season. Brive finished bottom to be automatically relegated. Oyonnax defeated Grenoble to win promotion. Grenoble now await the 13th placed finisher from the Top 14 season. The winner of that will play in the Top 14 next season. The loser will play in the Pro D2.

Mensa has played in France since 2020. He moved from Argentina to the Pro D2, joining Valence Romans from Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) Los Ceibos. He moved from Valence Romans to Mont de Marsan and will now play his rugby in the Top 14.

The 27-year-old has played more than 50 matches in the Pro D2. He remains in consideration for a return to Los Pumas. Mensa debuted for Argentina against South Africa in the 2019 Rugby Championship. He played against England at that year’s World Cup. His most recent cap was against New Zealand in 2020.
