Argentines have made a massive impact in Europe this season. So much so that the best tries in two of the three elite competitions were scored by Argentines. The winners are both from the northern Argentine rugby stronghold of Tucumán and are from the same club: Los Tarcos.
The best try of the 2022-2023 English Premiership season went to Mateo Carreras. The Puma scored thirteen tries for the season. His try against the Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens was the winner. The round 6 try came in a classic; Northampton held on for a 32-31 win.

The best try of the United Rugby Championship (URC) season went to Joaquín Riera. The try named as the best was his round 17 score in Benetton’s 43-33 loss against the Sharks in Durban, South Africa.
Riera is uncapped for Los Pumas. He has representative honors for Argentina at other levels. These include u20’s, Los Pumas 7’s and the Argentina XV. Changes to the player eligibility laws in 2021 mean that Riera is now eligible to change allegiance and play for Italy.
