The Sudamérica XV will take-on Georgia’s professional team Black Lion on Friday. The match marks the return of the continental side. The South American side will include players from Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay.
The roster is preparing for the Black Lion together in Montevideo. Friday’s match will kick-off at 3pm at the Estadio Charrúa. Uruguayan Rugby World Cup veterans Agustín Ormaechea and Federico Favaro are on the roster. So too is former Puma Santiago González Iglesias. He will captain the side.
Black Lion has been busy in South America this month. The Georgian side began with an impressive win over Los Dogos. Selknam were worthy opponents and were very unfortunate not to win their match against Black Lion. The undefeated tour ended in Buenos Aires; Los Pampas were 24-21 winners over the Georgians.
Friday’s match will be the penultimate of the tour for Black Lion. The Georgians will finish their tour against Peñarol. That fixture will be quite the trial for a number of players on both teams. Uruguayans and Georgians are playing for places on their respective RWC 2023 rosters.
