Canada hands out 2015 Awards

Rugby Canada held its fourth annual awards dinner on Friday night at Government House in downtown Victoria. Recognized were numerous members of the Canadian rugby community, including coaches, officials, and players. For a complete list of award winners see below.

Provincial Union Award – Alberta

Volunteer of the Year – Rick Romsa (Winnipeg Saracens, Manitoba)

Match Official of the Year – Rose LaBrèche (Ottawa, Ontario)

Male Coach of the Year – Graeme Moffat (Prairie Wolf Pack, NSMT)

Female Coach of the Year – Anna Wray (Castaway Wanderers, BC)

Women’s Young Player of the Year – Caroline Crossley (7s)

Men’s Young Player of the Year – Matt Tierney (u20)

Women’s Gillian Florence Award (Peer vote) – Barb Mervin

Canadian Shield Award (Peer vote) – Jamie Cudmore and DTH van der Merwe

Women’s Sevens Player of the Year – Karen Paquin

Men’s Sevens Player of the Year – John Moonlight

Women’s Fifteens Player of the Year – Laura Russell

Men’s Fifteens Players of the Year – DTH van der Merwe
