Santiago Cordero will trade the Top 14 for the United Rugby Championship (URC). The 29-year-old has signed a two-year-deal for Irish province Connacht. The deal will see the Puma completing the rare accomplishment of playing in every elite professional league around the world.
Cordero will join Connacht from Bordeaux. He will do so following four years playing for the French club. He has a record of 29 tries from 67 appearances. He was named in the European Champions Cup Team of the season for 2021. Prior to Bordeaux, Cordero played for the Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership. He was named in the English Premiership Dream Team of 2021.
Before playing for the Exeter Chiefs the side-stepping speedster played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares. He was on the inaugural roster and played in Super Rugby 2016 and 2016. Like most on the roster he played for Argentina at Rugby World Cup 2015.
The winger is on Michael Cheika’s radar for Rugby World Cup 2023. He was involved in the training camp earlier this month in Paris. With 46 test caps to his name, Cordero is not only one of the top Argentine wingers he also among the most capped wingers.
