USA to face Georgia away in World Cup Warm-Up

The USA will not play at Rugby World Cup 2023. The Men’s Eagles will, nonetheless, take part in at least one warm-up fixture. Georgia will play host to the USA on Saturday, August 19 in the national capital of Tbilisi.

Georgia will compete in Pool C at Rugby World Cup 2023. The group also contains Australia, Fiji, Portugal, and Wales. The Lelos will open their campaign against the Wallabies in Paris on Saturday, September 09.

Rugby World Cup 2023 is arguably Georgia’s best opportunity, since debuting in 2003, of reaching the Quarter Finals. The Lelos defeated Wales in November 2023. Repeating that win in Nantes on October 07 is now Georgia’s ultimate goal.

On-field preparations for the World Cup see Georgia playing at home against Romania and the USA in August and traveling to Edinburgh, UK to face Scotland.

The USA are expected to play additional matches in Europe. One against Romania has been speculated. Rugby World Cup 2023 will be the second without the USA. The Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup in 1995. The Eagles lost qualifying matches against Canada, Uruguay and Chile while Portugal eliminated the USA to claim the final place at Rugby World Cup 2023.
