Old Glory DC sign World Cup Semi Finalist Ramiro Herrera

Old Glory DC have signed a Rugby World Cup Semi Finalist. Ramiro Herrera is on his way to the USA from Argentina. The 33-year-old joins Old Glory DC for the upcoming season of Major League Rugby (MLR).

A native of Patagonia, Herrera is a strong ball-carrying prop who will take vast experience with him to MLR. Born in Comodoro Rivadavia, Herrera began playing rugby for Chenque Rugby Club in Chubut province.

He played for Hindú in Buenos Aires before spring boarding his career to the highest level. Herrera played for Los Pampas XV in the Vodacom Cup. His first experience for a foreign team was Castres. He also played for French clubs Stade Français and La Rochelle and for Los Jaguares in Super Rugby.

Herrera’s strong 2014-2015 with Castres saw him rise to the top to be Argentina’s starting tight head prop at Rugby World Cup 2015. He had a strong tournament, including being a stand-out in the Quarter Final win over Ireland in Cardiff, Wales.

Old Glory DC have been busy recruiting from Argentina for MLR 2023. Former Argentina XV captain Lautaro Bávaro and fellow flanker Alejo Daireaux will play alongside Herrera at Old Glory DC. Former Jaguares fly half Joaquín Díaz Bonilla joins from Hindú and Belgrano center Fermín Martinez is also on his way to the U.S. capital.

Herrera is the highest profile tight head prop at the club. He joins uncapped players Quentin Newcomer and Kyle Stewart. Among the other front-rowers at Old Glory DC is Uruguayan hooker Facundo Gattas. The Uruguayan is another former Hindú player.
