American Raptors enter in partnership with Cafeteros Pro and Colombia

The American Raptors have entered into a partnership with Los Cafeteros Pro and the Federación Colombiana de Rugby (FCR). The relationship is for Super Rugby Americas 2023. The upcoming competition sees the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) rebranded.

Los Cafeteros Pro competed in SLAR 2021 and 2022. The Colombian team were Semi Finalists in SLAR 2022. The team will not participate in Super Rugby Americas 2023. This leaves a void for Colombian players. The void is being partially filled by the American Raptors.

Five Colombian players are joining the American Raptors. They are players who featured for Los Cafeteros Pro in SLAR. The Colombians moving to Colorado are Diver Ceballos, Juan Camilo Pacheco, Santiago Gálvez, Juan David Agudelo and Alain Altahona. Ceballos was the best Cafeteros Pro forward in SLAR 2022. The flanker was previously also a Peñarol player.

The five players are to be Colombia’s five players in Super Rugby Americas 2023. With them the American Raptros roster has eleven South American players for Super Rugby Americas 2023. The roster also contains Sebastián Otero (Chile), Juan Echeverría (Uruguay) and Diego Magno (Uruguay) and Diego Fortuny (Argentina), Martín Landajo (Argentina) and Ramiro Moyano (Argentina).

The American Raptors will begin their Super Rugby Americas campaign in Santiago, Chile. The Raptors play away against Selknam on February 18.
