Franco Molina will play for Argentina’s new professional rugby team, Los Dogos XV. Molina is to be unveiled as a signing for the Córdoba-based team. In doing so, Molina will establish a record as being the first player to play for four professional South American teams.
An official announcement of Los Dogos XV is forthcoming. The team will join Los Jaguares XV in Super Rugby Americas which replaces the Súper liga Americana (SLAR).
Molina previously played for Los Ceibos in Córdoba in the inaugural SLAR season in 2020. In 2021 he played for champions Los Jaguares XV while in 2022 he played for Chilean side Selknam. In 2023 he will play for Los Dogos XV against former teammates including Rodrigo Fernández Criado who is returning from France.
Molina was a stand-out performer for Selknam. It was noted with him playing for the Argentina XV in 2022 and touring Europe with Los Pumas in November. He remains uncapped but this may not remain so for much longer. Michael Cheika’s list of second-rowers is small; only four players earned caps in 2022. Molina may be the next in line after Matías Alemanno, Tomás Lavanini, Lucas Paulos and Guido Petti.
