The Seattle Seawolves have added another reinforcement to their front row. Loosehead prop Jake Turnbull follows tighthead Mason Pedersen in making the move to the Pacific Northwest from the Austin Gilgronis. Both players were selected by Seattle in the Dispersal Draft.
Turnbull joins his fourth Major League Rugby side. After spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons with the Houston SaberCats, he moved to Old Glory DC for 2020 and the following year returned to Texas with Austin. He has also played with the Denver Stampede in PRO and both Eastern Suburbs and more recently Randwick in the Shute Shield.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Turnbull is US-eligible through his mother and was selected to the USA Selects squad for the 2016 Americas Pacific Challenge. This past year he featured 14 times for the AG’s and his fine form saw him return to international contention, captaining the USA Falcons against the Argentina XV and Uruguay XV in Montevideo.
Seattle now looks to be at a full compliment of front rowers. Turnbull joins returning pair Mzamo Majola and Dewald Donald as loosehead options, with Sam Matenga, Pedersen, and draft pick James Kuahiwinui at tighthead. The three senior hookers for 2023 are James Malcolm, Peter Malcolm, and Alex Glover.
