Wian Conradie has committed to a third Major League Rugby season with the New England Free Jacks. The 28-year-old recently started both of Namibia’s tests in November, winning his 26th test cap in the victory over Canada in Amsterdam. Free Jacks teammate Le Roux Malan also played both matches.
After starring during the 2021 season, Conradie was snapped up by English Premiership club Gloucester. He saw limited game time, however, and returned to New England in time for the second half of the 2022 campaign. Once again he proved an influential figure at the back of the scrum and helped lead the Free Jacks to their first ever postseason appearance.
New England will again have an array of back row talent available to them for the coming season. Conradie returns along with Slade McDowall, Joe Johnston, Cam Davidowicz, and youngster Ethan Fryer. Former New Zealand u20 international Mitch Jacobson has been signed, while Argentine No8 Tomás Casares was picked in the Collegiate Draft.
