Chicago Hounds official for 2023, Bryce Campbell signs on

Major League Rugby’s newest team will be called the Chicago Hounds. The name and logo of the expansion side were unveiled at a press conference earlier today. General Manager James English explained the choices behind the brand.

“Our hound’s head embodies the spirit of Chicago, with strength, guts, and ferocity. The six-pointed star pays homage to the Chicago flag, and our city’s storied history. The green, white, and blue stand proudly for Chicago and our Irish roots. The blue converging lines are inspired by the Chicago river merge you see behind you today.”

Two of the team’s ownership group – Phil Groves and Matthew Satchwell – spoke at the event, along with Head Coach Sam Harris. Also revealed was the team’s first official signing. US Eagles midfielder Bryce Campbell follows Harris in making the move from Austin. Campbell is originally from Indianapolis and now returns to the Midwest.

The team will be based at SeatGeek Stadium, a 20,000 capacity facility formerly known as Toyota Park. They will play their first regular season game on the road against Old Glory DC on February 18, with a home opener against the Utah Warriors on March 4.
