Marcos Kremer will miss the opening fixture of Los Pumas’ three-match November tour of the UK. Kremer was suspended for three weeks for foul play while playing for Stade Français. The first week of his suspension was served this past Saturday against Brive.
The two remaining fixtures will see Kremer unable to play over the coming two weekends. The result is that the leading Pumas flanker will be able to play again as of November 07. Argentina are to face England in London one day earlier on Sunday, November 06. Kremer will be free to face Wales and Scotland in November.
Kremer has been Argentina’s regular starting 7. He passed 50 test caps in Argentina’s win over New Zealand in Christchurch earlier this year. His versatility has also seen confidence to select three rather than four specialist second-rowers. Rethinking will now be needed against England.
There were four back-rowers and three second-rowers on the roster that trained together this week in Manchester. The players are Juan Martín González , Marcos Kremer, Facundo Isa, Pablo Matera, Matías Alemanno, Tomás Lavanini, and Lucas Paulos. Rodrigo Bruni and Guido Petti are out of the tour through injury.
Kremer, González and Matera has been the regular formation this year. Isa is now expected to start with another player joining the roster to provide cover from the bench. Santiago Grondona is well-placed to be that player.
