New York lock Will Tucker joins Highlanders for Super Rugby

The Tucker brothers will not be teaming up for New York in 2023 after all. Will Tucker has been named in the Highlanders squad for the upcoming Super Rugby season. He departs Major League Rugby after one year having helped New York win their first championship in June.

A New Zealand u20 international, the 6’8″ (2.02m) specimen made a big impact for New York this past season. He featured in 13 games including 11 starts, splitting his time between lock and blindside flanker. He missed four games with suspension but returned in time to start the final victory over Seattle.

Older brother Brad Tucker will make the move east from the Seawolves but now acts as his brother’s replacement. At 6’5″ (1.95m) Brad does not boast Will’s height, but has a similarly abrasive style and covers second row back row. A third brother, James Tucker, will play for the Blues in Super Rugby.
