Chloe Daniels called up to Canadian World Cup squad

Canada have made an early change to their squad for the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand. Versatile back Chloe Daniels has been called up, taking the spot of midfielder Marie Thibault. It’s believed Thibault’s withdrawal is injury-related though Rugby Canada have not released details of the change.

Daniels is just 19 years old and has yet to make her full test debut. She was called up to the senior sevens squad last year and most recently appeared in both the Commonwealth Games and the Rugby World Cup Sevens. Originally from the Aurora Barbarians club, Daniels also plays for the Queen’s Gaels where she earned Ontario University Rookie of the Year honors in 2021.

Thibault, 29, was previously a standout with the Laval Rouge et Or and played club rugby with Québec side CRQ. She made her senior Canada debut against England in November of 2018 and signed for French club Stade Bordelais in the summer of 2020.
