Brazil ready for Rugby Sevens World Cup

Brazil is ready for the Rugby Sevens World Cup. As Yaras will compete at the World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa this month. The South Americans will begin their campaign on Friday, September 09 against Ireland.

Brazil has confirmed a twelve-women roster for the Rugby Sevens World Cup. The team will be captained by veteran Luiza Campos. A player with vast experience, Campos represented her country at the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Tokyo, Japan. The 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup will be her third such tournament.

Half of Brazil’s roster for the tournament in Cape Town are returning players from the 2018 World Cup in San Francisco, California. Bianca Silva is back. She is Brazil~s leading try scorer in World Cups with five tries.

Other names from San Francisco who will also compete in Cape Town are Aline Furtado, Leila Silva and Marcelle Souza. Brazil finished 13th at the Rugby Sevens World Cup in 2018.

Luiza Campos, Aline Furtado, Leila Silva, Bianca Silva, Marina Fioravanti and Thalia Costa were at the Tokyo Olympic Games, giving Brazil seven Olympic athletes on the roster for Cape Town 2022.
