Arrows sign Canadian-eligible center Nic Benn

The Toronto Arrows have unveiled their first new signing for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Nic Benn arrives from the Manly Marlins in Sydney, Australia. The 21-year-old outside center is Canadian-qualified through his mother, and lived in British Columbia for six years in his youth.

Benn comes highly rated after a standout season in the Shute Shield. He started 17 games for the Marlins and scored 6 tries. A rangy runner who stands 6’2″ (1.88m), Benn played for Australia’s under-18 Sevens side but has declared his desire to represent Canada at senior level.

This past season saw five different players wearing the No13 shirt as Toronto looked to replace the departed Ben LeSage. Ueta Tufuga, Mitch Richardson, Dennon Robinson-Bartlett, Spencer Jones, and Conor McCann all made appearances at the position with varying degrees of success.
