James Vaifale and Mike Gieselman make Utah exit

James Vaifale and Mike Gieselman will not be playing for the Utah Warriors in 2023. The duo have been traded with Vaifale going to NOLA in exchange for the 18th overall pick in the upcoming Collegiate Draft, and Gieselman off to Seattle in exchange for salary cap considerations.

In his three seasons in Utah, Vaifale made 18 appearances though just 5 during the 2022 campaign. A former USA u20 international, the 27-year-old winger represented American Samoa during Olympic Qualifiers in 2019. He takes the roster spot of New York-bound Nick Feakes in New Orleans.

Gieselman, 26, made the move to the Warriors after playing with the New England Free Jacks during their exhibition campaign in 2019. The 6’2″ (1.87m) flanker from Michigan made his MLR debut in 2021 and would be a regular in match day squads since with 26 appearances including 4 starts.
