The Toronto Arrows have confirmed their first re-signing of the off-season, and it is arguably their most important. Star flyhalf and goal kicker Sam Malcolm will return for a 5th season with the Canadian side, building on his status as the club’s all-time leading points scorer.
This past year was not short on frustration for the Arrows but Malcolm continued to operate at a high standard. After missing the first two games with injury, he would start 13 of the remaining 14 games in the No10 shirt. Malcolm even filled in admirably at scrumhalf for nearly the entire game against ATL in Toronto after Chris Bell was injured early.
With his 27th birthday approaching in September, Malcolm remains in the prime of his career. The New Zealander scored 98 points in 2022 to push ahead of former Seattle and Canada winger Brock Staller into 3rd on Major League Rugby’s all-time scoring list.
