Landajo to captain Los Jaguares in place of Creevy

The initial matches of Los Jaguares’ upcoming four match tour of New Zealand and Japan will be without Agustín Creevy. The starting hooker and leader is one of nine players who are to join the team halfway through the four-match away series. Scrum half Martín Landajo will captain Los Jaguares in place of Creevy.

Having acted as Los Pumas captain in place of Creevy in the past, Landajo is the natural choice to captain Los Jaguares. The 53 time capped 27 year old will lead the Argentine franchise from scrum half with Gonzalo Bertranou being his understudy for the initial matches. Felipe Ezcurrra will subsequently join the team together with Creevy and seven others.

The three scrum halves and Brumbies number nine, Tomás Cubelli offer Los Pumas Head Coach Daniel Hourcade with plenty of options. The position is arguably now at an all-time high. In contrast a number of other positions are under pressure with the upcoming tour expected to require significant rotation.

With Creevy being rested for the initial matches of the tour his deputy from Rugby World Cup 2015, Julián Montoya is set to be the starting hooker. Facundo Bosch will act as Montoya’s replacement and is expected to make his Super Rugby debut as a replacement in New Zealand.

Los Jaguares are to play three matches in New Zealand and one in Japan. The four match tour is to start in Auckland on April 02 against the Blues and be followied seven days later with a match in Wellington against the Hurricanes before a match on April 15 against the Crusaders in Christchurch. The Argentine squad will then fly to Tokyo to face the Sunwolves on April 23.
