Ivan Nemer created a spectacular try on Friday. Playing for Italy against Romania, the prop from Argentina made a linerbkreak from inside the Italian 22. Nemer ran to half way before passing and one pass later the Italians scored under the posts.
Try:
Nemer made his test debut for Italy in November 2021. He has remained in the team since then. A red card during the Six Nations match against Ireland saw the loose head prop moving to hooker.
The 24-year-old Nemer has a bright future ahead of him. He is a significant loss to Argentina. He was born, and raised in Argentina and was developed by Argentine rugby. He is entirely Argentine homegrown but plays for Italy due to qualifying via a grandparent.
The Romania vs Italy test match was played in Bucharest. The rare visit of Italy to Eastern Europe was a good day as Italy were 45-13 winners. Italy will play further east next Saturday; they travel to Tbilisi to face Georgia. Romania fly to Montevideo to face Uruguay.
Both Romania and Italy will compete at Rugby World Cup 2023. Italy will do so in Uruguay’s pool. Romania replaced Spain following a lost appeal. Spain were disqualified due to Gavin van den Berg not being eligible. The player lied to Spain Rugby and World Rugby.
