Lucas Mensa scores for Mont de Marsan who Advance to Pro D2 Final

Mont de Marsan have book their place in the Pro D2 final. The South-western French club were Semi Final winners over Nevers on Sunday. The 26-15 victory means the team is 80 minutes away from returning to France’s elite, the Top 14.

The two teams both scored two tries in the Semi Final. Mont de Marsan’s match-securing try came from Lucas Mensa. The Puma scored in the 68th minute. He did so by gathering a loose ball and running in to the try zone.

Mensa and Italian-capped Argentine Leandro Cedaro both played in the Semi Final victory. They are now targeting the Top 14. For Mensa it would be more than appropriate. He has played test rugby for Argentina against South Africa, New Zealand and England.

Mont de Marsan will face Bayonne in the Pro D2 Final. Bayonne were 32-20 winners over Oyonnax in the second Semi Final. Bayonne are captained by former Puma Mariano Galarza while Uruguayan Manuel Leindekar started for Oyonnax in the second-row.

Mensa joined Mont de Marsan from Valence Romans Drôme Rugby (VRDR) this season. He previously played in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Los Ceibos in 2020. He played in the team’s two league matches against the Olímpia Lions and Selknam.
