Tetaz Chaparro out for two weeks with Head Trauma

Los Jaguares Tight Head prop resources are to be pushed to the limit with Ramiro Herrera having been joined by Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro, the latter is out for two weeks with Head Trauma.

Herrera misses the round four home Super Rugby fixture against the Chiefs with an ankle injury and is aiming to be fit to face the Stormers in round five, this coming Saturday evening. Tetaz Chaparro was injured by a reckless shoulder charge by Chiefs captain Sam Cane which instantly knocked out the Jaguares prop.

Training for the round four match began this morning in Buenos Aires with video analysis being followed by gym and on-field training. Missing was Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro who has been confirmed out for two weeks.

The New Zealand culprit, Can, escaped sanctioning by New Zealand referee Chris Pollock who missed the incident despite being well positioned to see it. With the laws preventing the use of TMO for such an instance the Chiefs were unpunished, going on to snatch a late win.

Replays showed that the offense was a clear red card as Can entered from a dangerous position without his arms with his shoulder making contact with the head of Tetaz Chaparro. The incident was picked up by the Citing Commissioner who confirmed that it had, in his opinion, met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Chris Morris. The incident breaches Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling.

Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling: A player must not tackle (or try to tackle) an opponent above the line of the shoulders even if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders. A tackle around the opponents head or neck is dangerous play.
