Danny Cipriani is set to make a move to Major League Rugby for the 2023 season. The former England flyhalf and Premiership star has confirmed his departure from Bath, for “an opportunity overseas.” Multiple sources are now pointing to the USA, with LA mooted as a possible destination.
One of the most talented payers of his generation, Cipriani has been a favorite of the English media since making his Wasps debut at the age of 17. His first test came against Wales in 2008 but he would win only 16 caps with 5 starts through his final international in 2018, and was snubbed for World Cup honors by England selectors who preferred a more conservative approach.
Now 34 years old, Cipriani has started 9 games for Bath in what has been a disappointing campaign at The Rec. Should his move to the Giltinis come to fruition he would replace another left-footed goal kicker in Matt Giteau, though the latter has yet to make an appearance in 2022 due to a calf injury.
