Team of the Week

After the excitement of the Americas Rugby Championship this week’s selection seems downright boring. Los Jaguares were on a bye, as was the whole of the Guinness Pro 12, and most of the top Americas exports were either not playing well or not at all. In some cases we’ve simply picked the only available player in the position, and we’ve even had to reach into the Six Nations to fill a couple gaps. As such we’re going with the most abrupt explanations possible. Thankfully we have PRO Rugby to look forward to in a month’s time. In the meantime here’s hoping for more options this weekend.

– Titi Lamositele (Saracens) Came on at the break and dominated the second half.

– Agustín Costa Repetto (Tarbes) Wore the right jersey number this week.

– Juan Figallo (Saracens) Grade A performance in the tight and very busy in defense.

– Hayden Smith (Saracens) Big effort in defense, enjoying a run of games in the side.

– Rodrigo Capó Ortega (Castres) Scored a try in a massive win over Agen.

– Justin Blanchet (Bedford) Aggressive defense but came up short against Jersey.

– Andrew Durutalo (Sunwolves) Good effort despite the narrow loss to the Cheetahs.

– Sergio Parisse (Italy) Even in defeat he is a standout.

– Tomás Cubelli (Brumbies) Distributed well in a convincing win over the Force.

– Benjamín Urdapilleta (Castres) Kicked 11 points and controlled the game.

– Matt Evans (Cornish Pirates) Scored a try to earn a spot in the Cup semi final.

– Gonzalo García (Italy) Could have been better, could have been worse.

– Ciaran Hearn (London Irish) Arguably his team’s best in New Jersey.

– Takudzwa Ngwenya (Biarritz) Another try, possibly his last for BOPB.

– Martín Bustos Moyano (Bayonne) Five penalty goals to inspire the win over Provence.
