Old Glory hires Nate Osborne as Interim Head Coach

Old Glory DC have announced the hiring of Nate Osborne as Interim Head Coach. The 41-year-old Australian was formerly in charge of NOLA Gold from 2018 to 2021. He steps in to replace Andrew Douglas, who left the team earlier this week after an 0-7 start to the campaign.

In doing so Osborne becomes the first person in Major League Rugby to act as Head Coach for two different clubs. Allen Clarke was initially hired as Director of Rugby for the Dallas Jackals but then moved to the Seattle Seawolves before the Jackals played their first game in the competition.

Across his four seasons with NOLA, Osborne guided the team to a record of 25 wins, 19 defeats, and 1 draw, though they did not make a post-season appearance in that time. Old Glory co-owner Chris Dunlavey says that while Osborne is expected to apply for the permanent job posting, a world-wide search has been initiated to find other candidates.

Osborne won’t be at the helm when Old Glory takes on New York in Hoboken on Sunday, though he will be in attendance. Assistant coaches Callum Gibbins and James Willocks have prepared the team this week, with Osborne’s first official day in charge Monday, April 4.
