Wian Conradie has returned to the New England Free Jacks. The Namibian loose forward leaves Gloucester after eight months with the Premiership Club, during which time he was limited to just two first team appearances due to both injury and intense competition for spots.
Conradie, 27, was among Major League Rugby’s best performers at the No8 position in the 2021 season. He makes a timely return to New England with Terrell Peita currently on indefinite leave following the tragic death of his parents in New Zealand.
The Utah Warriors have also signed up a familiar face in the form of James Mocke. With both Saia Uhila and Jamie Lane injured, the Warriors were facing an injury crisis at lock and have asked the 26-year-old to fill the gap. Originally from South Africa, Mocke is US-eligible on residency and appeared in three games as a replacement last season.
Meanwhile Arrows outside back Brock Webster has departed the team after five impressive outings. The 21-year-old has re-joined the Canada Sevens squad to prepare for upcoming World Series events in Singapore and Vancouver. Webster’s loss is a blow to the team though fullback Conor McCann is set to return from injury.
New York have bid farewell to winger Apenisa Cakaubalavu. The 29-year-old Fijian was a key player for the team in 2021 but with the arrival of Samoan international Ed Fidow has made just one appearance this season. Cakaubalavu has returned home for personal reasons.
