Undefeated Eagles reach Seville Women’s Semis

A perfect start to the Seville Sevens has the USA two wins away from repeating their title win in Málaga. After sweeping the pool stage, the Women’s Eagles shut out Spain in the Cup Quarter Finals to book their place opposite Australia in the second Semi Final.

A blowout win over Portugal opened Day One with a hat trick scored by Jaz Gray and a double for Sarah Levy. Next was a strong performance against England, followed by a less convincing win over Canada.

The Canadians had shown improvement after being outclassed by England. Two tries from Paige Farries contributed to an easy win over Portugal, but three tries from Amee-Leigh Murphy-Crowe saw Ireland hammering the North Americans in the Cup Quarter Final.

Brazil emerged from the Pool Stage with one win, a narrow result over Poland. They had earlier suffered defeats to Russia and Ireland. As Yaras now face Portugal in the 9th Place Semi Final to start Day Three, with Canada taking on France in the 5th Place Semi Final.

A complete fixture list for Day Three can be seen here.
