Pumas and Eagles undefeated in Málaga Men’s bracket

Argentina and the USA emerged with perfect records on Day One at the Málaga Sevens on Friday. The two sides will square off on Day Two in the Pool C decider. Jamaica was soundly beaten by both sides while Canada picked up one win in Pool D.

Los Pumas got two tries from Franco Sábato in their opening match against the Crocs, with Omar Dixon scoring Jamaica’s only try of the opening day. It was a similar result against Spain for Argentina with Marcos Moneta grabbing a double.

The Eagles got off to a good start against Spain but nearly let it slip in the second half, holding on for a five-point victory. They took out their frustrations against Jamaica with captain Kevon Williams leading by example and notching three tries himself.

Nine points including one try from Cooper Coats helped Canada push past Kenya by the slimmest of margins in the first match of the tournament. France, however, proved a different kettle of fish and blasted the North Americans by six tries to one.

Day Two will see the final round of the pool stage played followed by the first round of the knockouts. A complete tournament schedule can be seen here.
