Rugby United New York have announced the signing of prop Nic Mayhew for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 32-year-old New Zealander boasts a decade of experience playing professionally in England, Australia, and Japan in addition to his home country.
Mayhew spent three seasons with English Premiership side Harlequins before landing his first Super Rugby contract with the Blues in 2015. He then signed for the Brumbies in 2017 and was a regular in match day squads for two seasons. A brief return to England with Yorkshire Carnegie in 2019 was followed by move to the Sunwolves in 2020.
Since 2014 Mayhew has turned out with North Harbour in New Zealand’s National Provincial Competition. Primarily a loosehead prop, he can also pack down on the tighthead side. Mayhew comes from a rugby family with brothers Richard and Mike also professional players and father John a renowned physician who was a long-time Team Doctor for the All Blacks.
