Dallas Jackals sign ex-Waratahs prop Rory O’Connor

The Dallas Jackals have announced the signing of Australian prop Rory O’Connor for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. A veteran of two Super Rugby campaigns with the Waratahs, the 27-year-old most recently lined up the Warringah Rats in the Shute Shield.

O’Connor made his Shield debut as a 19-year-old with Manly before making the move to Warringah in 2015. He was a starter for Australia u20s at the 2014 Junior World Championship and played five seasons for the Sydney Rays in the national Rugby Championship and one campaign with Melbourne Rising.

After making 10 appearances as a replacement in the 2019 Super Rugby season, O’Connor made two more in 2020 before the season was cancelled. A loosehead specialist, his signing suggests that English recruit Ryan Bower, announced earlier this week, could play tighthead for the expansion side.
