Americas Rankings – February 21 2016

Four of the six teams in the Americas Rugby Championship played for rankings points this weekend, nonetheless as of February 21 2016 there are no changes in overall position.

Canada’s big win over Brazil had no impact on the ranking of either country. This was the case due to Canada going into there game with 63,42 points, a far greater ranking than that of Brazil’s 48,41. The same is true of the USA and Chile.

Uruguay’s narrow home defeat against the Argentina XV was not played for rankings. The reason being that it was not Los Pumas but a developmental side. Indeed, Argentina’s ranking will not change at all regardless of results in the Americas Rugby Championship.

As of today, February 21 2016 the countries in the Americas retain the same ranking as they did last week. Argentina thereby remains first ahead of the USA, Canada, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil in that order of teams competing in the championship. The excluded Paraguay remains in the top six, ahead of Brazil.

Changes could occur next weekend in round four of the Americas Rugby Championship. All remaining matches are to be played in South America with the USA playing away to Brazil while Uruguay will face Uruguay. Both matches will have points up for grabs. The Argentina XV’s home match against Canada will not count towards rankings.
