USA vs Chile ARC 2016 – Full Match

The USA Eagles head to South America in a few days with an eye on returning home as champions of the inaugural Americas Rugby Championship. In round three, played last night in Fort Lauderdale, Florida the USA put Chile to the sword, pounding Los Cóndores 64-0.

Ironically the scoreline was identical to that of what the Eagles lost to against South Africa in London during last year’s Rugby World Cup. The similarities were more than just the scoreline. Both matches showed a superior side willing to rack-up points and doing so. It was the biggest Eagles victory since downing Barbados 91-0 in a Rugby World Cup qualifier in 2006. It now ranks as the third biggest in history, behind the 2006 win and a 74-5 victory against Japan in San Francisco in 1996.

Last night’s result followed an opening round draw against the Argentina XV and a second round victory over Canada. Put together they mean that the USA are leading the Americas Rugby Championship with 13 competition points, one more than the Argentina XV.

The USA fly to São Paulo to take-on Brazil in a fourth round fixture on February 27 before playing away to Uruguay in Montevideo the following weekend. Chile host Uruguay in Santiago, also on February 27 and follow it up by taking-on Canada on March 05, also in the nation’s capital.
