2021 Rugby Championship: Venues set for Wallabies vs Pumas

The venues are set for the two 2021 Rugby Championship matches between the Wallabies and Los Pumas. Rugby Australia announced that Australia will play host to Argentina in Newcastle and Canberra. The Wallabies will also play home matches against South Africa in Brisbane and Sydney and against New Zealand in Perth.

As was the case in 2020, Argentina will play all matches on the road. Los Pumas played against Australia and New Zealand in Sydney and Newcastle in 2020. The South Americans completed an historic first ever win over New Zealand in Sydney. They then lost against the All Blacks in Newcastle in addition to competing to a draw against the Wallabies in Newcastle and then in Sydney.

The 2020 Rugby Championship was especially rebranded as the Tri Nations. This was a result of South Africa pulling-out of the tournament. Argentina committed to competing but had to give up home matches; the same applies to the 2021 competition.

Argentina is scheduled to begin the 2021 Rugby Championship with two test matches in South Africa. The Springboks’ home games are scheduled for August 14 and 21. The venues for these fixtures remain unconfirmed.

The Springboks and Los Pumas are to both travel east following the two matches in South Africa. All remaining Rugby Championship matches will be played in Australia and New Zealand. Los Pumas will play in New Zealand first and Australia second. South Africa will do the reverse.

Argentina’s venues in New Zealand will be Auckland and Wellington. From there Los Pumas will complete the 2021 Rugby Championship in Eastern Australia. Game one against the Wallabies will be on September 25 in Newcastle and the second will take place in Canberra on October 02.
