Americas Players in Pro 12 – Week 15

Week 15 of the Guinness Pro 12 gets underway this evening with Wales, Italy and Scotland each hosting one match. The round will continue on Saturday and Sunday and feature a host of Americas Players, from multiple countries.

Canadians will be closely following the Ospreys home match vs Edinburgh in Swansea today. It sees there return of winger Jeff Hassler from injury. His teammate and international captain, Tyler Ardron remains sidelined. USA born Sam Underhill has been named to start in the back-row for the Swansea based side.

It is to be back to club duty for Toronto back-rower Robert Barbieri. Having been called-up to Italy’s Six Nations roster ahead of the home match against England he he now available again for Benetton Treviso who host the Newport Gwent Dragons this evening. Barbieri has been named on the bench.

USA Eagles second-rower Greg Peterson will be in action in Scotland later on today. He will be a replacement forward for the Glasgow Warriors who play host to the underperforming Munster. Uruguay’s leading tighthead prop Mario Sagario will feature on the Irish province’s bench.

USA Eagles captain against the Argentina XV, Blaine Scully will be in action on Saturday. The Californian has been named to play left wing for the Cardiff Blues who host Irish province Leinster at the Arms Park.

Also on Saturday Zebre welcome back from Italian internationals for their home match against Connacht. Argentina, meanwhile, is to have two props involved. Starting on the loosehead side will be Bruno Postiglioni while Emiliano Coria has been named on the bench. USA international AJ MacGinty will start at fly half for Connacht.

In Belfast, Northern Ireland on Sunday Ulster will play host to Welsh region the Scarlets. The first vs fourth match-up will be the Canadian veteran of three Rugby World Cups, DTH van der Merwe starting on the left wing for the visitors.
