Brazil’s women’s Rugby Sevens roster has been named and is training for the upcoming international competition. The Arena Barueri in Greater São Paulo is to be the setting this coming weekend for the latest edition of World Rugby’s women’s Rugby Sevens stop.
Head Coach Chris Neill has finalized his roster of 12 women to represent Brazil this coming Saturday and Sunday in South America’s largest city. Included are players from five Brazilian states, São Paulo state being the primary provider with six players from three clubs included.
The tournament is to be the second of the season and is the third straight season in which Barueri is to host. The first leg of the season was back in December in Dubai. On that occasion the Tupis finished in 10th position.
From that tournament Paulinha Ishibashi are Julia Sardá are the only two players to have been retained. While of the 12 selected for the São Paulo event this weekend 8 are returnees from the 2015 tournament. They are: Paulinha Ishibashi, Edna Santini, Julia Sardá, Luiza Campos, Mariana Ramalho, Beatriz Futuro, Amanda Araújo, Juliana Esteves, Raquel Kochhann, and Haline Scatrut.
Brazil is to face England, France and Japan in the pool phase in São Paulo. There are to be two other groups. Pool A is comprised of Australia, Canada, Fiji and Ireland while New Zealand, Russia, Spain and the USA will compete in Pool C.
