Tomás Cubelli scores in 50th Super Rugby appearance

Tomás Cubelli was a try-scorer in his 50th Super Rugby appearance. The Argentine scrum half touched down for the Western Force earlier today against the Highlanders. The match was a Super Rugby Trans Tasman fixture. The Highlanders were 25-15 winners.

Cubelli started the match at scrum half. He was joined in the starting lineup by Santiago Medrano. The Pumas tight head prop had a strong game. It included winning a penalty in a scrum by overpowering the opposition front-row.

Domingo Miotti was also involved. He was named on the bench but entered the game well before half-time. The trio of Cubelli, Medrano and Miotti were all named on Argentina’s 67-man roster for 2021. Of them Cubelli and Miotti will continue their careers next season in France and Scotland respectively. Fellow Force Puma, Tomás Lezana will join the Scarlets in Wales.

Biarritz will be Cubelli’s first European club. The 31-year-old from Belgrano Athletic Club in Buenos Aires will move to the French south-west after having played Super Rugby for the Brumbies (2016-2017), Jaguares (2018-2020) and the Western Force (2021).
