Free Jacks confirm signing of Tuidraki Samusamuvodre

The New England Free Jacks have confirmed the addition of Fijian flyhalf Tuidraki Samusamuvodre for the remainder of the Major League Rugby campaign. Initially signed by the Dallas Jackals in September, he was acquired in January’s supplementary draft but visa and travel restrictions delayed his arrival.

Samusamuvodre represented his country’s u20 side for two years before captaining the Fiji Warriors in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge. This past fall he was included in the senior Flying Fijian squad but did not make an appearance in their only test against Georgia.

Though he is not eligible to represent the Eagles, Samusamuvodre will not count as a foreign player this season under the Dallas dispersal agreement. Free Jacks eightman Wian Conradie, also previously signed by Dallas, falls under the same category.

The 23-year-old boosts New England’s backline options for the second half of the season along with recent signing Ewan Brumwell. Harrison Boyle has been the first choice at No10 during the first half with Beaudein Waaka providing cover at flyhalf when required.
