The New England Free Jacks have added utility back Ewan Brumwell to their Major League Rugby roster. Arriving from New Zealand, the 28-year-old is US-eligible having been born in San Diego though he grew up in Scotland and trialed with their national u18s.
Brumwell played for Aberdeen Grammar before joining Manly Marlins in Australia. He then jumped across the Tasman to play alongside Free Jacks center Aleki Morris-Lome with Harbour Hawks. At the same time he has acted as a Strength & Conditioning coach for the Otago provincial side and the Highlanders of Super Rugby.
A capable goal kicker, Brumwell has most often played at flyhalf or inside center though he can cover across the backline. He adds valuable depth to the Free Jacks with the intended arrival of a specialist flyhalf delayed due to Covid restrictions.
