Double header at the Coliseum set for Saturday

The second double header of the Major League Rugby season has now been confirmed for Saturday. On Tuesday the San Diego Legion confirmed their home game against the New England Free Jacks will now be played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, to be followed by the LA Giltinis match against Old Glory DC.

San Diego have been displaced from their Torero Stadium home to start the campaign. Their season opener against New York was played in Las Vegas and the April 17 match against Utah at the Track & Field Facility adjacent to the main stadium at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Another team forced to play home fames in unfamiliar territory – the Toronto Arrows – played the Giltinis at The Gold Mine in New Orleans earlier this month. The match was followed by NOLA’s home game against the Austin Gilgronis. Toronto’s temporary home base is Life University in Marietta, Georgia.

Saturday’s game was originally slated to be played at the Track Field but has now been moved to the Coliseum, the home field of the Giltinis. The two venues are located just 12 miles (19 km) apart. Kickoff for the first match is set for 2pm local time with the second at 6pm.

In a statement posted on San Diego’s social media account, Legion CEO Ryan Patterson and Chairman Darren Gardner say they hope to make a return to Torero Stadium for their May 29 game against the Houston SaberCats.
