San Diego have ended their Las Vegas exile. The Legion today announced a return to their headquarters in Southern California with immediate effect. It’s a quick turnaround after the team had previously announced in January that the pandemic would not allow them to play at Torero Stadium.
It’s unclear at this time when fans will be allowed to attend home matches but with none permitted at their home opener against Rugby United New York there was little reason to stay in Nevada. With Cashman Field being employed as a COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinic, James Regional Sports Park was an unexpected venue to start the 2021 Major League Rugby season.
Meanwhile the team are set to confirm new ‘high profile’ signings, according to a media release. Former England captain Chris Robshaw’s suspension is now up and he is clear to debut against the SaberCats in Houston this coming weekend, while former Italy lock Joshua Furno should return from a loan spell with French Pro D2 club Biarritz in May.
