Three Americas teams unbeaten on Dubai Day One

Three teams from the Americas went unbeaten on Day One of the Dubai Rugby Sevens. Argentina’s Men’s side and both Canada and the USA Women’s sides won all of their matches. The tournament is match preparation ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Los Pumas 7’s opened against Uganda. Argentina won the contest 38-14. Matías Osadczuk, Franco Sábato, Fernando Luna, Rodrigo Etchart, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, and Santiago Alvarez scored in the win for the South Americans.

Argentina were 31-14 winners in game two against Japan. Matías Osadczuk scored again for Los Pumas 7’s. Also touching down were Ignacio Mendy and Marcos Moneta who scored a double.

Canada gave Argentina their toughest match of Day One. Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Marcos Moneta, Igncio Mendy, and Matías Osadczuk were ry scorers in what was a 24-14 win. The results see Los Pumas 7’s into a Quarter Final against neighbors Chile. Los Cóndores 7’s lost their Day One matches 39-7 vs Kenya, 19-12 vs Spain, and 38-5 vs France.

The USA Women’s Eagles also impressed on Day One. They opened up with a 22-14 win over France. It was followed by a 43-12 win over Japan and a 45-7 victory against Kenya. The USA Women’s Eagles will take-on France 2 in their opening match of Day Two. It will follow Brazil vs Kenya and come before Canada vs France 1. All three are Women’s fixtures.

Canada’s women started Day One with a 36-14 win over Brazil. They followed it up with an even better showing against Kenya. The North Americans were 38-5 winners against the Africans. In their final match, Canada handed France 2 a 33-0 defeat.
