Argentina’s under 20 men’s team, Los Pumitas will face Japan this coming Saturday with the winning team finishing in 9th position in the 2015 World Rugby Under 20’s Championship. The South Americans will meet the top Asian side after having completed a 46-5 victory against Italy this afternoon in Viadana.
The Nicolás Fernández Lobbe coached Pumitas produced their best performance of the competition to date by running in seven tries to one to converte a 31-0 half time lead into a victory by over 40 points. Lautaro Bazán Vélez impressed from scrumhalf in scoring two tries. Domingo Miotti, Tomás Granella, Patricio Baronio, Julián Domínguez and Cristian Bartoloni also scored one each while Miotti kicked three conversions and Emiliano Boffelli converted one in addition to scoring a penalty.
The result secures Argentina’s place in the 2016 World Rugby Under 20’s Championship. The remaining fixture against Japan will be played on Saturday June 20 at the Estadio San Michele in Calvisano. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30pm Argentine time.
