Chilean prop Ramón Ayarza is in doubt for the RWC 2023 qualifiers. Set to start in June, the South American tournament will be played over two rounds. Chile joins Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay in round one. The top two will advance to round two to take-on Uruguay.
Ramón Ayarza will play if fit. He was injured in round one of the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). His debut for Selknam was brief. He left the match against Los Cafeteros Pro with a shoulder injury.
The subsequent analysis confirmed the worst; Ayerza needed surgery. The front-rower has since undergone surgery and is now beginning his recovery. The specifics regarding when he will be expected to play again are unconfirmed. Notwithstanding, the nature of the injury and surgery mean his involvement in the June RWC 2023 qualifiers are unlikely.
