Luke Hume makes surprise return for RUNY

Luke Hume isn’t finished just yet. The former US Eagles flyer has signed on with Rugby United New York for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. It’s a surprise return for the 33-year-old Australia native whose last game for the club was the 2019 Semi Final against San Diego, a match he finished on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

After qualifying on residency, Hume made his test debut against Canada in 2012 and won the last of his 20 caps against Russia in 2016. He has been a New York resident since 2009 and also represented the USA in Rugby League and on the World Sevens circuit.

Hume adds experience and finishing ability to RUNY’s outside backs group. He joins returnees Connor Wallace-Sims and Ben Foden with three newcomers in the ranks – fellow sevens internationals Apenisa Cakaubalavu and Fa’asiu Fuatai, and Argentina age-grade rep Joel Miranda.
