The LA Giltinis have announced the signing of flyhalf Luke Carty on a deal that runs though the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He arrives from Connacht in Ireland having previously represented his home country at u18 level. The 23-year-old is US-eligible via his grandmother who was born in New York.
Carty comes with strong family pedigree being the younger brother of Ireland international Jack Carty. In June 2017 Carty was an injury call-up for Ireland at the World Rugby u20 Championship in Tbilisi but did not ultimately compete at the tournament.
Though he did not appear in the Guinness Pro 14, Carty has numerous appearances for the senior Connacht Eagles development side. He notably traveled to Boston in 2019 to compete in the Cara Cup hosted by the New England Free Jacks.
LA now boast two starting options in the No10 shirt with Luke Burton making the move from the San Diego Legion. Burton has also played at inside center and fullback at the professional level, while Carty was selected as an outside center for the Ireland u18 squad.
