LA signs former Eagles No8 Langilangi Haupeakui

The LA Giltinis have signed Langilangi Haupeakui on a deal that runs through the 2022 Major League Rugby season. It’s a return to action for the fan-favorite after nearly three years in the professional wilderness. The 31-year-old is a native of San Mateo, California.

Haupeakui has been playing for SFGG and more recently Life West in the Pacific Rugby Premiership since departing the Glasgow Warriors in early 2017. He came to prominence playing for the Sacramento Express in the 2016 PRO Rugby campaign, and earned three caps for the Eagles later that year.

A collegiate football player prior to his professional rugby endeavors, Haupeakui is known for his bruising ball carrying and punishing tackling. It remains to be seen if he can force his way back into Eagles contention but there is certain to be new footage for the highlight reel on the way in 2021.
