The 2020 Uruguayo de Clubes Final will be played on Saturday, December 12. Carrasco Polo have 27 Uruguayan national titles and Old Christians have 20. The next best is Old Boys with 15.

Carrasco Polo had a solid first half on Saturday. The club went into half time with a 15-3 lead over Paysandú Trébol. Reliable kicking and a try from a maul gave the Montevideo side the half time advantage.  Trébol played with little possession in the half.

In terms of points, the second half was even; the teams each scored 10 points in the half. Yet, Paysandú Trébol was playing much better. Ultimately handling errors cost the team. Carrasco Polo’s win sees the club into the Uruguayo de Clubes Final for the first time since 2014.

Old Christians are the reigning champions. In addition to winning the national title in 2019, Old Christians also won in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Trébol Paysandú won in 2019. That was the club’s first national title.

Carrasco Polo and Old Boys won every year from 2008-2014. Moreover, Carrasco Polo dominated in the 1990s and 2000s. The club won every year from 1990-2006.

The manner in which Carrasco Polo won their 2020 semi final indicates that the club is well positioned for the final. Their opponent in the 2020 final, Old Christians had a classic battle against Old Boys. The 19-17 result was a come-from-behind win. Old Boys had a 17-6 lead which Old Christians eroded to win the contest.
