8 Countries Compete this weekend in South American Women’s 7’s

Eight countries will compete this weekend in the South American Women’s 7’s. The 2020 edition of the Valentín Martínez will be played at the Carrasco Polo Club in Montevideo on November 28 and 29. The entirety of the tournament will be streamed live on the Sudamérica Rugby App.

Uruguay was selected as the host due to the country’s control against the COVID-19 pandemic. The country recently played host to the South American 4 Nations.

This year’s tournament is the 27th edition of the Valentín Martínez. Brazil enters as defending champions and as the odds-on-favorites to win again. As Yaras will be joined by seven other teams from Latin America.

The eight competing countries are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. They are to be divided into two pools of four. They are as follows:

Valentín Martínez will begin with Chile vs Colombia. Game two will be between Argentina and Costa Rica; followed by Paraguay vs Peru; and Brazil vs the hosts, Uruguay.

Following a break period the teams will return to play their second respective matches. First up will be Colombia vs Costa Rica. It is to be followed by Argentina vs Chile, Uruguay vs Paraguay, and Brazil vs Peru. The third, and final, matches of day one will be Chile vs Costa Rica, Argentina vs Colombia,  Uruguay vs Peru, and Brazil vs Paraguay.

Day two will see the competition conclude on Sunday. The fixtures will spend on the performances from pool play.
