George Barton signs on for more with Seattle Seawolves

The Seattle Seawolves have re-signed Canadian international George Barton for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. An ‘original’ member of the team, the 23-year-old center was a starter in the 2019 Championship Final victory over the San Diego Legion.

Primarily an inside center, the 240lb (108kg) native of Duncan, BC, has been a consistent source of go-forward in the Seawolves midfield. He appeared in four of Seattle’s five games during the shortened 2020 season, sharing time with former NFL running back Joey Iosefa.

Despite his strong form with Seattle, Barton has largely been ignored by Canadian selectors since winning two caps during the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship. It remains to be seen if he can blast his way into contention with the next round of Rugby World Cup qualification scheduled to begin in 2021.
